Marian Hosking makes small boxes, with lids which may also be worn as jewellery. The main material is (patinated) silver, which she often combines with wood, bone or mother of pearl. In this collection she also introduces found plants and objects into her compositions, which she gleans, for instance, from botanical gardens and flea markets. These are then incorporated as attached decorative elements or into graphic saw-pierced compositions. The Australian nature remains one of her greatest sources of inspiration, including familiar plants like banksia, wattle and eucalyptus as well as more rare specimens…
